What type of material is available on the Archive? 

Our Online Archive contains material in several formats such as PDF (books and documents), JPEG (pictures), MP3 (audio clips), and MPEG (video clips). These include material digitized by MARA, references to material found on other online archives (such as Internet Archive, Google Books and JStor) and links to WorldCat which provides information on libraries worldwide. Thus, the aim of MARA is to provide a comprehensive bibliography on modern Assyrian literature and culture. 

How do I search the Archive? 

The Archive is divided into simple and advanced search options.  In the simple search, you may choose keyword, title, subject, call number, publisher, author, ISBN or ISSN, or language

With the advanced search, you may specify type i.e. printed matter (book, article in book, periodical, article in periodical or booklets), manuscripts (book, article, letters, documents), audio files, film clips or images. You may also specify pages, city, year, volume number and issue number. Leaving all fields blank will list every item in the database. 

What appears on the search results page? 

On the search results page is a list of items pertaining to your specific search. Here you may sort your results by date newest first, date oldest first, author a-z, author z-a, title a-z, title z-a. In addition, you may further refine your search by author, year, language, content and theme.

The items on the search results page are presented as follows, title, author, content, language, publisher including city and year and an image of the item. 

What appears on the search details page? 

By choosing the view more button for a specific item, you will be directed to the search details page

On the search details page, specific information about the item chosen is presented, including title, author, publisher, content type, language(s), rating, permalink, theme, ISSN or ISBN, pages, volume, publication city, publication year, issue, OCLC Number and description

If the item is provided by MARA, a button to view the item will appear. Otherwise, a link to an external website where the item may be found will be provided.   

To view an item provided by MARA, you must be signed in as a user (if you are not a registered user, you may sign up for an account). Once signed in, you may choose any or all of the following options, list, add tags, write a review and rate this item. These will be saved to your personal account on MARA.  

What is MyMARA? 

MyMARA is the name of your personal account. Here you can view and edit the following items in your personal account, my profile, my saved lists, my review, my saved searches, tags, and settings and sign up for the newsletter

Note: The tool to view books and documents with works with Internet Explorer 10, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox but not with Internet Explorer 9 or its earlier versions. Our programmers are working to resolve this issue.
